Will he Change Back to the Man I Fell in Love With?

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Annie Kaszina Its a question women often ask me. The lead up to the question always goes something like this: the man has travelled round the circle of violence and exploded yet again. (If you are not familiar with the Circle of Violence see below.) The woman feels terribly battered, emotionally and, quite possibly, physically also so much so that she decides she has to call time on the relationship. At that point the man gets worried that he might have really blown it and starts back peddling furiously. Mr Nice Guy is in the ascendant. He promises to go for counselling, talks about his difficult childhood and/or present stresses, he tells her how much he loves and needs her. He really wants to change, but he cant do it without her How easy is it to get sucked in when he finally says all the things you have been starved of hearing? The things that fall like balm on your soul? Especially when you see glimpses of the man you fell in love with? Its just all the hurt and pain and rejection etc. hes been through in his life that have made him so hurtful at times. At bottom, you know that there is this warm, loving, sensitive guy who is in touch with his, and your feelings, his feminine side etc. etc. Well, first off, if its just the hurt etc. that hes been through that made him so hurtful, how come you dont do the same? Youve been through enough misery and yet you spend your time trying to hold it together for him, your children if you have children, yourself the family? Are you going to fall back on that tired old excuse that women are better at feelings, by which you mean women are more responsible for their feelings? That you cant expect too much of him? You might as well argue that one kind word from him is worth a years care and respect from anyone else So you start thinking about and working towards a life without him a life, incidentally that you imagine as being just as ghastly as life with him, yet ten times worse because hes not there; like a desert without even the hope of an oasis somewhere. And youre so heart-broken you dont even register the sheer illogicality of it: if his presence and his treatment have made life so bad, how could his absence possibly be worse? You feel confused, vulnerable, desperate, he makes the effort to woo you a bit after all were talking about him getting back into his comfort zone here and you find yourself wondering obsessively: Will he change back into the man I fell in love with? Ask him, and he might even vow that he will. Well, he would, wouldnt he? But will he? Theres always an outside chance, like winning the lottery. What are the odds? Hundreds to one, thousands to one, tens of thousands to one, or a million to one?Who knows? Whats certain is that they are very low indeed. If you want to stake your happiness, your childrens happiness because, make no mistake, abusive relationships tear children apart and your very life, on a tiny outside chance, thats your choice. If he tells you he cant do it without you thats Abusive Man Code for Ive no intention of doing anything for myself. Either you do the work, or it wont get done. If he can shift, probably quite fast, from broken-hearted mode, to blame, criticism or anger, hes giving you the clearest message he can about what you can look forward to. If he moves, swiftly and seamlessly, from the mention of your hurt feelings to the contemplation of his own, take it as a reminder of exactly where you rate in his own personal hierarchy. But will he change back? you ask. The short answer has to be no. He will not change back to the person you fell in love with. Nor will you change back to the person you were before you met him. But you will build on all your past qualities and strengths. Its all about how you take your past pain and experience and move forward. Ive no doubt that you will move forward. Love remains central to your well being. And once you own the courage that youve shown in persisting in an abusive relationship, youll start to find far more joy, meaning and fulfilment in your life. Youll do it for yourself and your children, if you have them. He wont. He wont, in the end, because he doesnt really feel that his problem is that big. He might find someone else, do a little short-term wooing, just to set up a new relationship; or he might not. The man you fell in love with was only ever a persona, his romantic image. If, at the start, you had listened as carefully to what he said about other people as what he said to you, you would have heard that his dark, negative side was there from the start. The wisdom of hindsight! You didnt know that back then. None of us did. But you have the knowledge now to protect yourself from falling into the same old destructive trap. How To Discover The Emotions That Turn Prospects Into Customers

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Lisa Packer You know theyre there. Lurking deep within your prospect perhaps so deep she doesnt even know she feels them are emotions related to what you want to offer her. If your marketing can resonate with them, get them all churned up so they can stimulate some action, its a good bet that shell buy what youre selling. But if you misfire, your effort will be ignored. Even worse, you could trigger her sales resistance, making it that much harder to sell to her in the future. So how do you go about deciding which emotions to trigger? Youve Got To Know Me To Sell Me Its an old, old mantra, but you just cannot sell to a prospect that you dont intimately know. Educated guesses may help you get lucky once in a while, but consistent wins only happen when you know what youre doing. Just who is this person youre pitching to? Dont stop with demographics theyre only the beginning. Two 55-year-old white women in the same suburban neighborhood may well have completely different lives. One may be a fanatical environmentalist, while the other listens to Rush Limbaugh. What are your prospects core beliefs? The fundamental things she believes to be true? What is she skeptical about? What is she ashamed of? What kind of person does she wish she could be? It Takes Detective Work It will take effort on your part to find the answers to these questions. And it cant be done overnight. But where do you look for the answers? Start with what you know. If you have a mailing list, see what other companies have used it. What are some of the other products or services this target has bought? Are there any publications that mail to this list? Go to the bookstore and look at the best selling books on subjects related to your offer. Buy them and read them. Get any and all newsletters and magazines on the subject and do the same. Pay special attention to the advertisements how are others targeting your prospect? If youre targeting a professional group, read their trade publications and attend trade shows and conferences. Dont stop until you have a full image of a living, breathing human being. Then spend some time meditating about that human being. What is she thinking? What is she already saying to herself about the problem your offer will solve? NOW you have a good idea of what shes feeling. And you can use that knowledge to help Mrs. Prospect become Mrs. Customer. Does your marketing forge an emotional connection with your prospects? It can. Lisa Packer, author of “The Power Of Emotion: 6 Triggers That Turn Prospects Into Customers,” specializes in copy that does just that. Buying a New Car? Should You Finance Through a Dealership?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder Financing an auto loan through a dealership is quick and convenient. The dealership may have a relationship with a specific lender, or operate a buy here, pay here business. However, financing through the dealership may not present the best financing package. Smart car buyers put forth great effort to receive the best price and a reasonable interest rate. This may require securing your own financing. Pros and Cons of Dealership Financing New car buyers may be unaware of their options. You do not have to obtain financing through the car dealership. Of course, the dealership will never reveal this information to you. By using their lenders, the dealership has the power to increase the interest rate in order to boost their profit. For example, if the lending institution re-submitted a quote with an interest rate of 5%, the dealership may charge 7%. The best way to avoid this common practice is to secure your own financing, or compare rates from other auto loan lenders. Get Pre-Approved for an Auto Loan Getting pre-approved for an auto loan has several advantages. For starters, you are able to get quotes from several lenders, and then compare these quotes with the dealership’s offer. Moreover, a pre-approval will make the car buying experience quick and easy. You already know your qualifying amount, thus you will not be pressured into buying a car you cannot afford. How to Compare Lenders for an Auto Loan Many car buyers avoid comparing rates and fees because they do not want to submit applications to several lenders. However, there is a way to obtain multiple rates without contacting each individual lender. Online auto loan brokers are the quickest and simplest way to receive multiple offers from various lenders. Brokers work directly with hundreds of lenders. Upon submitting an application through a broker, your information will be forwarded to several lending institutions. These lenders will review your information and submit a quote. The broker will compile all quotes and remit this information for you to review. You should carefully compare quotes, and choose the lender that offers the best rate and terms. In some instances, the dealership may offer the best financing. Accidents: 5 Deadly Sins That Could Wreck Your Injury Claim

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Gerry Oginski Issues that Can Sink Your Case Here are what I consider to be the Five Deadly Sins that can wreck your personal injury claim. These sins are based upon my experience and discussions with many judges and jurors. 1. The Client is Referred by the Lawyer to a Doctor Local judges call this service the kiss of death to a claim. The problem is that jurors are highly suspicious of lawyers and doctors who have a referral relationship. While the client may not know how many of that lawyers clients have been referred in the last 12 months to a particular doctor, you can bet that the insurance company knows it or will find out about it. How credible do you think that doctors testimony will be when the jury finds out that he treated 50 patients from the same lawyer last year? Are there exceptions to this rule? Yes, there are. You may have a very special need for a doctor with a special expertise. It is perfectly legitimate for the attorney to make a suggestion or recommendation. If every client though, is getting referred to the same chiropractor or the same orthopedist, then that is a huge problem. (So beware of the attorney who has a stack of doctor/chiropractor cards in his office. You need to ask the right questions and fully understand the business relationship, if any, between that attorney and the doctor.) 2. Hiding Past Accidents From Your Lawyer Once you begin a case, the other side will be interested in knowing how many past accidents you have been in. The reality is that they probably already know the answer or have easy access to that information. All insurance companies subscribe to insurance databases and often the only reason they ask you this question is to test your credibility. If you have been in other accidents, your lawyer can investigate this and make a determination as to whether this is a valid problem in your case or not. If you do not tell your lawyer, however and you misrepresent your accident history to this insurance company, then it is almost guaranteed that you will lose your case. 3. Hiding Other Injuries It goes without saying that you should be upfront and honest with your attorney about any injuries that occurred before or after this accident. Again, if you saw a doctor or other healthcare provider, then there is a record in existence that the insurance company will find. Your lawyer can deal with this if he knows about it. If you lie about it, and the insurance company finds out, then your case is over. 4. Not Having Accurate Tax Returns In most cases, a claimant will have lost income. You will only be able to claim that lost income if your past tax returns are pristine. Again, being honest with your attorney is the only way to be, because he or she can deal with the problem if they know about it. 5. Misrepresenting Your Activity Level Insurance companies routinely hire private investigators to conduct videotape surveillance. If you claim that you cannot run, climb or stoop, and you get caught on videotape, you can forget about your claim. There is no explanation (other than You got my brother, not me!) that can overcome the eye of the camera. Indoor Grills Featured in Steven Raichlen’s Newest Book

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Laura Ciocan With a great number of city people living in condos, with no possibility to grill outside, Raichlen’s latest book, “Indoor! Grilling” covers a topic of large interest, especially that grilling is a tradition in America, some sort of a national custom. So, this theme surely relieves a lot of frustration for the part of audience that had been previously left out! Steven Raichlen is a cooking teacher, lecturer, author, journalist and TV host. He founded the Carribean cooking school Cooking in Paradise. Raichlen’s TV show, Barbecue University debuted in 2003 on public television. The same year he was named the “cooking teacher of the year” by Bon Appetit magazine. Participating in a “barbecue battle” on Japanese television and defeating Iron Chef Roksbura Michiba attracted him nicknames such as the “Michael Jordan of Barbecue”, as Howard Stern called him or, like Oprah put it, the “Gladiator of Grilling”. Raichlen published over 25 books of which best-sellers such as Barbecue Bible Sauces, Rubs, and Marinades, Beer Can Chicken, Healthy Latin Cooking, Miami Spice, Big Flavor Cookbook and the famous first and foremost book on grilling, The Barbecue Bible, that appeared in 1998. It was the first guide on grilling, a study of barbecuing around the world and a course on live fire cooking techniques. His writing won 3 IACP awards and 4 James Beard Awards and was translated into ten different languages. To write “Indoor! Grilling” Raichlen intensively studied these appliances and the technique to cook using them. Although the public of this category is familiarized with the many types of indoor grills, Raichlen treated them in a detailed manner, starting from the very beginning, from contact grill, grill pan, built-in grill to freestanding grill and fireplace grill. And to do this, he largely improved his knowledge about how indoor grills actually work. He tested the 270 recipes in the book on each type of grill. What really takes grilling steps further is what the experimenting Raichlen does with sandwiches, vegetables and desserts in the recipes section. How to Remove Spiders

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Brenda Murphy You don’t have to be Miss Muffet, to jump up and scream when a Daddy Longlegs drops down beside you, and you’re sitting in the living room. Once in a while might not be so bad, but there are times when it seems you have a spider infestation. The question is, how to oust them from your home. While the idea of gently releasing spiders into the wild is not a really appealing one, it is a good idea if you can talk one of the kids or the man of the house into doing it. Spiders are one of our beneficial insects, eating pests that bite us and destroy plants. In fact, that very food source is what brings them into the house. Some years, prevailing weather conditions may cause an increase in such things as flies, mosquitoes, and other bitty bugs that tend to come in through open doors, and broken screens or windows. So your first line of defense, is to get rid of the food that spiders are after. Remember that light attracts insects, and when they rush in your door to swarm around light bulbs and lamps, it also attracts spiders, which will crawl in through cracks and crevices. This means opting for the yellow bug repellant light bulbs for outdoor fixtures, and repairing screens on windows and doors. There are commercial “bug zappers” for use on the patio or by the doors, but many people report limited success with them. They are simply a light that is supposed to attract bugs and then fry them with an electrical charge. Clean your house frequently, even if that is easier said than done. At least run a dust mop or cloth on a stick, around your ceiling moldings, behind appliances, and in dark corners, which is where spiders like to build their webs and leave clutches of eggs. You can also hose down the outside of your house near the ground, where spiders breed and reproduce before food hunting inside. As far as pesticides go, the only really effective ones are contact sprays, which means you must be there to squirt it right on them, and considering the toxicity, you’re just as well off using a fly swatter. But do try and get someone to take them outside instead, and let them go in the field or garden. Mother Nature will thank you for it.
